10.09.06 .... Wildfire

Today at late morning we noticed the sunlight outside looked unusually yellow. So we went outside to find out why - a big wildfire was burning in the the Boulder foothills. By late afternoon it had grown dramatically due to high winds... forcing over 1000 families to flee their homes. This photo made at 6PM.

At 10 PM the fire looked like this from Erie, about 18 miles from the flames. I hope the fire gets controlled soon - it is burning in very rugged terrain - beautiful forested hills.

I feel so sorry for the people who have lost their homes - hopefully no one will be injured or killed by the fire. There was very little time for many people to evacuate - the fire moved too fast - and the emergency warning telephone system did not work.

What will tomorrow's sunrise reveal?
